5 Essential Care & Maintenance Tips for Cast Iron Skillets

Cast iron skillets are famous for their unmatched heat retention and durability. With basic maintenance, your skillet will last for generations.

1. Wash with Warm Water & Soft Sponge

Avoid harsh dishwashing soap or abrasive steel wool. Warm water and a soft nylon brush are all you need to clean a seasoned cast iron skillet.

2. Dry Immediately & Thoroughly

Never leave cast iron to air dry or soak in water. Towel-dry immediately and place it on warm heat for 1-2 minutes to evaporate any remaining moisture.

3. Apply a Micro-Layer of Cooking Oil

After drying, rub a few drops of vegetable or canola oil over the interior surface with a paper towel to protect the seasoning.

4. Store in a Dry Cabinet

Store your skillet in a moisture-free area. If stacking multiple cast iron pans, place paper towels between them to prevent scratching.
